Help?

Filed under: Uncategorized — sara at 10:46 pm on Sunday, November 26, 2006

I don’t know how to downsize my pictures, everytime I try it tells me they are still too big.  As you can tell I am not the most computer savy person and I get frustrated easily, I am giving up or at least shouting out a cry for help or advice.  So if any of you smart computer people have some advice to pass my way I am open to try

Do you have a picture program on your computer that you use when you upload the pictures from your camera? Because if you do, you should be able to shrink a picture (or downsize the quality) with it, and save it as a separate picture.
Um, I’ll ask Brian if there’s another way to do that, but I am pretty sure you have to downsize your pics on your own picture program thing.

Umm, I don’t know - have you tried using a smaller camera?

I had the exact same problem, Sara!! Here’s what my smart little brother, Tony, did for me (hopefully your’s will work the same)!
1. Go to “my pictures”
2. right click on the picture your wish to upload to your site.
3. Click “edit”…your picture should open up in some program (mine opens up in “Paint” REALLY, REALLY big!).
4. Click on “Image” at the top of the screen.
5. Click “Stretch/Skew” from the drop-down box.
6. Change both the horizontal AND vertical stretch (not skew) to 25%.
7. Click “okay”.
8. Click “File” then “Save As”. I always save this new, smaller picture with a different name so I know which one to upload to the website.

Hope this helps!! I’m by no means an expert…that’s why I’ve got Tone on speed dial!! :)

Uncle Sid, I have to say this:

“Umm, I don’t know - have you tried using a smaller camera?”

made me laugh out loud.

I agree with Josh uncle Sid…very helpful comment I’m sure!

So Sar, what else is new in the life of the Jarvis’? You should post again and give us an update!

Sara, I just press control and select all the pictures I want to post right from their folder, and the right click and choose send to…email recipient. I send them to myself, and it automatically asks if I want to downsize them. Then I just save the group and upload those saved, smaller pictures. It takes a bit of fiddling, but it’s easy to do a number of pictures at once.

Maybe we should all be purchasing larger computer screens. This might be cheaper for you Sara than buying a smaller camera. Really, I have no idea about any of this stuff. I am not like Aunt Brenda when it comes to computers.

Hi Sara,

I’ve lost your email address, so I’m just writing you here. I just read your Xanga site, and I wanted to let you know that both of our girls had cysts as well. We didn’t get them tested to see if they have disappeared, but their neo-natal specialist said that they were very common and nothing to be concerned about. It sucks to have such a scare, but I commend you and Lance for committing to love this baby from the get-go - that’s true unconditional love! She/he is lucky to have you guys as parents.

Love Helena

P.S. I accidentally went to Anne Thompson’s website (someone who commented on your page) and I saw a picture of someone who looks very much like my old friend Jennifer Vink…do you know if that is accurate, and if so, any way to contact her? Thanks!

Sara - Did you figure the picture thing out yet? I’ve bought a new camera, asked Aunt Brenda for advice, wrote down the advice Jenn and Helena gave you, and I still don’t have any pictures on the site. Is there something else I should be doing?
